Prompt for July 4, 2015

Complete the short story/flash fiction, that has the following first paragraph:

He stood in the cool night air, leaning against the balcony railing and looking out at the flickering lights of the city below him. Those flickering lights were his. All his. But he felt no happiness at the idea that all of the people represented by those lights were his subjects. His mode did not change when he felt the hands of his wife slowly slide their way up his chest. Like those below him, she was his to do with as he would. It was at times like this he thought he epitomized the phrase: “Be careful what you wish for.”
