Prompt for January 17, 2016

Complete the short story/flash fiction, that has the following opening:

She eased her arm out from underneath her sister’s head arm slowly stood up from the couch they had both fallen asleep on. The TV was still on in the corner and she used the remote to turn it off. For a moment she considered waking up Denise and getting her to lie down in her bed, but she decided that after the night she had had waking up on the couch was probably better for her. She found a light blanket on the floor behind the couch and used it to cover Denise up.

She couldn’t blame her sister, after all it wasn’t very often that the perfect man, one whom she had been dating for six months, suddenly decided to break it off and move out of the city. Instead, Cameron blamed herself for what happened. If she hadn’t done a background probe on her sister’s perfect match he would probably still be in town. But then, how did he know what she had done and, more importantly, why had he run?

She picked up her badge and gun from the table where she had left them and decided to head into work. Even though it was a Saturday and, she checked her watch, it was only 4:00 AM, she wanted to do some more digging on mister perfect. Something didn’t fit and she didn’t like it when all of the pieces of the puzzle didn’t fit together like they were supposed to.
