Prompt for January 19, 2016

Complete the short story/flash fiction, that has the following opening:

Dennis dusted himself off in the back seat of the limo. His security guards were efficient and effective so when the gun had been drawn his security detail had thrown him to the ground and the attacker … handled … before he even knew what was happening. Within seconds he had been lifted off his feet and literally thrown into the back of the limo with no fanfare. And now, almost two minutes later, he was a mile away in a random direction. He was still thinking about what had happened when his cell phone chirped indicating that his wife was calling.”Everything’s fine,” he said as he answered the phone, “security did their job.”

“Everything’s fine,” he said as he answered the phone, “security did their job.”

“Dennis, when are you going to give up this fool’s errand and go back to what you were good at?”

He laughed, a deep, rich full-bodied laugh. “Give up? Darling, I’ll have you know that in less than 48 hours my team will have incontrovertible proof about the non-existence of God. You think that I am going to stop now?”
