Prompt for February 13, 2016

Complete the short story/flash fiction, that has the following opening:

He sat in a corner of the hotel lounge, gently swirling his drink and letting the ice slowly dissolve in the fifteen-year-old scotch. He would take a sip every couple of minutes but he never let his eyes drift from the door to the lounge. He was looking for someone and he didn’t want to miss them. With the drink almost gone he froze with the glass just leaving his lips.

She had come.

Entering the lounge in a deep red, body-hugging sheath was a woman of incomparable beauty. Her auburn hair was still free of gray even after forty years and her green eyes, visible even from across the room, held him captive even though she wasn’t looking directly at him. She scanned the room somewhat nervously until she saw what she had come for. A smile blossomed on her face and it broke his heart for that smile wasn’t for him.

A distinguished gentleman, not much older than her, was approaching her from the other side of the lounge and that was whom her smile was for. She hugged him and gave him a kiss on the lips, a sample of what was to come, chaste yet full of passion and promise. They turned and walked out of the lounge holding hands and rubbing shoulders.

He lowered the drink to the table and stood up. He had seen enough. He would confront her tomorrow when she came home from her “sisters” apartment. Tonight he would leave his wife and her lover alone.
