Prompt for April 26, 2016

Complete the short story/flash fiction, that has the following opening:

The heavy bag in her personal gym swung as Jazz hit it. Left, left, right. Right, right left. Left, right, left, right. Repeat. Over and over again, faster and faster. Her arms were getting tired and it was harder and harder for her to punch with any force, but every time she thought of slowing down she thought of Corinne.

Corinne, her best friend from college, had gone out on a date one night and didn’t come home. She found her the next day, a Jane Doe in the emergency ward, her body showing the signs of the beating that she had taken. It took over a month for her to come out of the coma and four more before she left the hospital. When she told Jazz what had happened she vowed to find the man that did this no matter what it took.

In the meantime she swore that she would never be a victim like Corinne so she took up kickboxing. It was difficult at first, she had never been the athletic type and shied aware from conflict so the idea of hitting someone was foreign to her. But she practiced. Day in, day out. Seven days a week. When Corinne took went home after five months Jazz was becoming good at kickboxing. At the one-year anniversary of the attack, she was very good. After two years she was one of the best but her target, the man who attacked Corinne, was still missing.

Until this evening. She found him working as a bartender in a cocktail lounge looking exactly like Corinne described. She took a picture with her smartphone and showed Corinne. It was him. Now was the time to put her plan in motion. Now was the time to make him pay.
