Prompt for August 26, 2016

Complete the short story/flash fiction, that has the following opening:

He looked at her body lying on the bed, the sheet lying haphazardly across her body in the king sized bed. A slight sheen of sweat glistened on her skin as her body strove to sleep despite the blistering heat of July. The sheet, a mere token towards modesty, covered mainly her torso, with her legs and arms exposed to the slight breeze coming in through the window.

The breeze, filled with the scent of the flowers of summer, was warm and moist and did little to dissapate the heat from the day, but it still felt good on the skin. The cross breeze generated by leaving the window in the bathroom open created enough movement to wick away the sweat shortly after it appeared. The cooling was enough to keep her asleep, but not enough to be anything more than adequate.

She moved and the sheet started to slide down her torso, coming ever closer to exposing her to his eyes. He watched intently as the sheet slide lower and lower and then stopped, her modesty still preserved by the thin cotton.

He was sweating now, more so from excitement than from the heat. He wiped the sweat from his brow before it could drip into his eyes. His breathing, heavy and ragged, slowed as he closed his eyes and thought of winter days, frozen ponds and shoveling snow. With one final sigh his breathing was back to normal. He took one more look at her then lowered his binoculars and closed his blinds.

Tomorrow, he would meet her tomorrow, he promised himself.
